All Around Carpet Care, Inc. was established in 1991 by Erik Hiltz.
When we first starting cleaning carpet, the first machine we used was a
home-made electric truck mount that we built.
It used 4-three stage vacuum motors and an electric pump. Just imagine
what a nightmare all those extension cords were. As we moved up the ladder,
we were always looking for newer & better equipment for our company.
Over the years, we have used units that use propane water heaters and
oil-fired heaters. Finally, after a lot of trial & error, we use the latest
and greatest trucks using all of the latest technology.
Back in 2001, we bought our first Vortex Machine. This truck came with a
13˝ ” Titanium Scrub Wand. With all the vacuum power from the Vortex,
swinging the wand was quite the workout.
As our business starting doing more Commercial Carpet Cleaning, we purchased
a few different rotary extractors in hopes of making our job a little easier.
That was a mistake! With all those cords, we felt like we were back in the
beginning when we first starting doing business. Between plugging in & moving
cords, regular maintenance, & constant break downs due to all of the moving parts,
this was not practical. Unfortunately, we had to go back to using the traditional
Scrub Wand. When we purchased another Vortex in 2005, we were turned on to
Teflon Glides. They were a complete godsend. The Teflon Glide makes the wand
slide easily over the carpet and keeps the airflow moving instead of deadening
the vacuum, which allows for drier carpets. Even though, this made our job a
lot easier, we were still hunched over to one side and constantly twisting our
back and body. We were continuously using our steer arm to weight down the wand
on certain carpets. So, we were back in the market to buy a new cleaning tool.
After looking at everything available and not finding anything to our liking,
we decided to build our own cleaning tool. About one year ago, we came up with
a concept that would fit all of our cleaning needs. Our main goal was to
invent something that dried the carpets faster and reduced spot wicking,
which is caused by leaving the carpet to wet. We achieved this goal by designing
two vacuum heads. This allows you to clean and never leave water behind on your
forward stroke. As we came out with the two heads, we realized that both of these
needed to stay on the carpet at all times. So, we came up with an movable handle design.
This concept along with the wheels and the overall weight of the heads,
allowed us to achieve this goal. We call it the “Zipper.” When using this tool,
your back is always aligned straight. Always keeping the handle at waist level,
allows you to use all of your muscles evenly. Your legs, back, & arms are used
uniformly to push and pull the Zipper. This greatly reduces body fatigue & strain.
As most people in the Carpet Cleaning Industry know, the technique of cleaning carpet
correctly is not a skill learned overnight.
The Zipper reduces the skill level needed by a technician and produces fabulous results.
